What is Sai?
Sai, also known as Single-Collateral Dai, was the original version of MakerDAO's dollar-pegged stablecoin on Ethereum. Users locked Ether as collateral in a smart contract to mint SAI, which was designed to hold a value close to one US dollar. It was one of the first widely used decentralized stablecoins in DeFi.
SAI was an ERC-20 token backed by a single collateral type, Ether. It launched in 2017 and was later replaced by Multi-Collateral Dai, the current DAI, which accepts several assets as collateral. The single-collateral system has since been shut down, and holders were directed to migrate their SAI to DAI.
Because the system is deprecated, SAI is a piece of DeFi history rather than an active product. Treat any remaining balances and listings with that context in mind.
You can track the Sai price and hold SAI in a self-custody wallet.

How is Sai priced?
The Sai price you see is an average of live trades from exchanges worldwide, weighted by volume so the busiest markets count for most. It refreshes continuously, day and night. Because it trades continuously and worldwide, the price can move sharply within a single day. Past performance is no guarantee of future results, and nothing here is financial advice.
Where can I hold Sai?
You can hold Sai in any non-custodial wallet, which means you control the private keys rather than trusting an exchange. Zypto App is a non-custodial multichain wallet where you can hold SAI and swap it into 24,000+ assets. SAI isn't accepted as a payment method yet, so it can't be used for real-world spending in Zypto.
