What is Stellar?
Stellar is an open, public blockchain built for payments and moving value across borders. It launched in 2014, co-founded by Jed McCaleb, and is supported today by the Stellar Development Foundation, a non-profit that maintains the network and funds its ecosystem. Stellar is designed around fast, low-cost transfers, asset tokenization, and connecting different currencies, with settlement in a matter of seconds.
The network uses the Stellar Consensus Protocol, a federated Byzantine agreement model that confirms transactions without mining or proof-of-stake. Institutions known as anchors issue digital representations of fiat currencies and handle conversions in and out of the network.
XLM, also called lumens, is Stellar's native token. It pays the network's very small transaction fees and acts as a bridge asset between currency pairs that lack a direct market. You can follow the Stellar price and hold XLM in a self-custody wallet, with the private keys under your control.

How is Stellar priced?
Stellar's price is set by supply and demand across global exchanges, around the clock. The figure above is a volume-weighted average across major markets, updated live. Because it trades continuously and worldwide, the price can move sharply within a single day. Past performance is no guarantee of future results, and nothing here is financial advice.

You can hold Stellar in any non-custodial wallet, which means you control the private keys rather than trusting an exchange. Zypto App is a non-custodial multichain wallet where you can hold XLM, swap it into 24,000+ assets, and use it for real-world spending, paying bills, buying gift cards, and topping up phones.
