What is VeThor?
VeThor (VTHO) is the gas token of the VeChainThor blockchain, an enterprise-focused network that runs a two-token model. VET is the value-transfer and staking asset, while VTHO is the energy used to pay for transactions and smart contract execution. Separating the two gives businesses building on VeChain more predictable transaction costs.
VTHO is generated by holding or staking VET and is burned when it is spent on network fees, so its supply tracks actual usage. It is a VIP180 token native to VeChainThor, the dual-token system having gone live with the mainnet in 2018. A 2025 network upgrade revised generation so that staked VET produces VTHO, tying supply more closely to active participation.
VTHO is infrastructure utility rather than a speculative standalone asset; its role is to power activity on VeChain.
