What is PHALA?
Phala Network is a privacy-focused computing project that provides confidential, verifiable off-chain computation for smart contracts and AI agents. It uses Trusted Execution Environments, secure hardware enclaves inside processors, so that data and code can run privately while still being tamper-resistant. This lets developers build confidential contracts and run sensitive workloads such as private AI compute.
PHA is the network's native token, with a supply of one billion. It is used to pay for compute and transaction fees, to stake for node operators who run the network, and for on-chain governance. Phala launched in 2021, originally as a Polkadot parachain, and its community approved a migration toward an Ethereum layer 2 to reach a wider developer base.
