What is Mina Protocol?

Mina Protocol is a layer-1 blockchain that uses zero-knowledge proofs to keep its chain extremely small. Rather than growing without limit as more transactions are added, the entire state is compressed into a compact cryptographic proof of around 22 kilobytes, so almost any device can verify the network independently.

The MINA token powers the network. It pays transaction fees, serves as staking collateral for block producers, and rewards the participants who generate the proofs that keep the chain compact. Mina's mainnet launched in March 2021, with the token following shortly after.

Its design supports zero-knowledge applications, sometimes called zkApps, that aim to add privacy and verifiability to on-chain activity. You can follow the Mina Protocol price and hold MINA in a self-custody wallet.
