What is Merlin Chain?
Merlin Chain is a Layer 2 network built to extend Bitcoin. It uses a ZK-Rollup design together with decentralized oracle networks and data availability components, aiming to let Bitcoin-native assets and protocols run with lower fees and more functionality than the Bitcoin base layer alone.
MERL is the network's native token. It is used to pay transaction fees, to stake toward network security, to delegate to validators, and as collateral and liquidity within the ecosystem. Merlin Chain launched in early 2024, and the MERL token went live in April 2024. As a newer Bitcoin Layer 2, it is still maturing, and the broader Bitcoin L2 sector is young and competitive.
You can track the Merlin Chain price and hold MERL in a self-custody wallet.
