What is Electroneum?
Electroneum (ETN) is the native coin of the Electroneum blockchain, a project that has focused on bringing crypto to everyday users in emerging markets since 2017. It began as a UK-based cryptocurrency and grew an audience through a mobile app that rewarded people with ETN for engagement. The team later added AnyTask, a freelance marketplace where users can earn ETN for digital work.
Electroneum has since moved to Electroneum 2.0, an EVM-compatible Layer 1 chain run by a set of permissioned validators. It offers around five-second finality and very low transaction fees, with ETN used to pay for activity on the network. Real-world uses have included mobile top-ups and airtime in several countries.
As a smaller network, its activity depends on continued adoption and the projects built around it. You can follow the Electroneum price and hold ETN in a self-custody wallet, where you alone control the keys.
