What is Casper Network?
Casper Network is a layer-1 proof-of-stake blockchain built for businesses and developers who want predictable costs and contracts that can be upgraded after they go live. It uses WebAssembly so developers can write smart contracts in familiar languages, and it targets enterprise use cases like supply chains, asset tracking, and tokenized real-world assets.
CSPR is the native coin of the network. It pays transaction fees, and holders can stake it with validators to help secure the chain and earn rewards in return. Validators rely on staked CSPR to take part in consensus.
The Casper mainnet launched in 2021 and runs as its own independent chain. A major protocol upgrade, Casper 2.0, extended its features for higher throughput and improved staking.
